Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a simple, preventive treatment designed to protect teeth from cavities before they develop. A thin, tooth-colored protective coating is applied to the deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where food particles and bacteria most commonly collect. Sealants are most commonly recommended for children as their permanent molars erupt, typically around ages six and twelve. Because the back teeth have naturally deep grooves that are difficult to clean thoroughly, they are especially susceptible to cavities during childhood and adolescence.

How long do sealants last?
