Prevent and Treat Gum Recession & Improve Teeth Sensitivity, Without Surgery!

Are you noticing your gums pulling back, leaving your teeth looking longer? Do you cringe when drinking cold water because of sudden tooth sensitivity? Or perhaps you’ve noticed dark, triangular spaces forming between your teeth when you smile?

If so, you aren't alone. Gum recession and "black triangles" affect millions of adults. For years, the only real solution was a potentially uncomfortable gum graft surgery, causing many patients to simply "watch and wait" while the problem got worse.

At Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo, we are thrilled to offer a revolutionary, breakthrough alternative: The Gum Builder™ & Black Triangle Treatment. Dr. Trey Miller is fully certified in this innovative, non-surgical technique to help you restore your smile quickly, comfortably, and beautifully.

What is the Gum Builder™ Treatment?

The Gum Builder treatment is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure designed to reverse mild-to-moderate gum recession, eliminate tooth sensitivity, and fill in the dark spaces between your teeth.

Instead of cutting or stitching tissue from the roof of your mouth (like traditional gum grafting), this treatment uses a specialized, FDA-cleared material to gently stimulate your body’s own natural healing response.

How It Works

We use a proven, advanced biostimulator (Radiesse) that is placed precisely into the gum tissue. It acts as a framework, triggering your body to produce fresh collagen and elastin. Over time, this natural boost allows your own gum tissue to gently regenerate, rebuild, and thicken.

We aren't just "plumping" or hiding the problem - we are helping your body naturally grow healthier, stronger gums.

The Benefits: Why Patients Love It

  • No Surgery, No Scalpels, No Stitches: Avoid the pain and long recovery times associated with traditional gum grafting. Over 90% of patients who refuse traditional surgery choose this comfortable alternative!

  • Fast Relief from Sensitivity: If you suffer from painful, sensitive teeth due to exposed roots, this treatment can significantly reduce or entirely eliminate that discomfort within just a few days.

  • Closes "Black Triangles": Dark spaces between your teeth can trap food and make your smile look aged. This treatment rebuilds the biological cushion between your teeth, closing those gaps for a more youthful, seamless smile.

  • Quick & Comfortable: The procedure takes only a few minutes per area. Most patients report little to no post-operative pain and can return to their normal routine immediately.

  • Proven and Safe: The technology used in this treatment is scientifically back by years of studies and is FDA-cleared for oral use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the treatment painful? Not at all! Most patients don't even need a standard local numbing injection. We use a powerful, highly effective topical numbing gel, making the entire process quick and virtually painless.

How long does the procedure take? Because it is non-surgical, the treatment takes only minutes to complete. You can easily fit it into a standard dental appointment.

Am I a good candidate? If you have mild-to-moderate gum recession, tooth sensitivity from exposed roots, or dark triangular gaps between your teeth, you are likely an excellent candidate. During a quick consultation, Dr. Trey Miller will evaluate your gums to ensure this is the right approach for your smile.

Ready to Restore Your Smile?

Professional Protection for Every Athlete: Custom Sports-Flex® Mouthguards

Whether you are a weekend warrior, a competitive high school athlete, or enrolling your child in their first sports league, protecting that smile should be at the top of your gear checklist.

At Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo, we don't just fix smiles, we protect them. That’s why Dr. Trey Miller provides custom-crafted Sports-Flex® Mouthguards. Unlike cheap, store-bought alternatives, our professional mouthguards are individually engineered to offer maximum protection, elite comfort, and peak athletic performance.

The Truth About Store-Bought "Boil-and-Bite" Mouthguards

It can be tempting to grab a cheap mouthguard from the sporting goods store, but those generic guards offer a false sense of security. Because they don't fit as precisely as a lab-fabricated professional sports guard, they often:

  • Slip and slide: Forcing the athlete to constantly bite down just to keep it in place.

  • Restrict breathing and talking: Making it harder to communicate with teammates and oxygenate muscles.

  • Offer inferior protection: They are thin, easily chewed through, and fail to absorb and distribute heavy impact.

Why Choose Sports-Flex® Custom Mouthguards?

We use advanced technology to create a 100% customized mouthguard sculpted directly from a model of your unique teeth and gums. Using heat, high pressure, and premium laminated layers, the Sports-Flex® system delivers unmatched dental defense:

  • Tailored for Your Sport: We don't believe in a "one size fits all" defense. We offer specific tiers based on your level of play:

    • Sports-Flex® "Super" (High Contact): Features three heavy-duty layers and a hardened center core. Perfect for hockey, football, rugby, lacrosse, and martial arts.

    • Sports-Flex® "Regular" (Moderate Contact): Features a dual-layer design ideal for basketball, soccer, baseball, mountain biking, and skateboarding.

    • Pro-Form® Multi-Purpose: Built with a unique cross-woven vinyl to resist tearing and stretching over long-term use.

  • Advanced Force Absorption: Sports-Flex® guards include a built-in "palatal brace"—a layer of hardened plastic that shields your highly vulnerable front teeth and safely transmits impact forces away from them.

  • Beyond Just Teeth: A professionally fitted mouthguard doesn't just protect against chipped teeth; it cushions the jaw, helping to significantly reduce the risk of jaw fractures, neck injuries, and concussions.

  • Uncompromising Comfort: Because it fits like a glove, athletes can speak clearly to call plays, breathe easily at peak exertion, and stay entirely focused on the game.

  • Show Your Team Spirit: Available in an exciting array of vibrant colors and combinations, making it a piece of gear athletes actually want to wear!

Protecting Your Investment

If you or your child have undergone orthodontic treatment (braces), or have high-quality cosmetic restorations like veneers, crowns, or bonding, a custom mouthguard is an absolute necessity. A single rogue elbow or stray ball can undo years of dental work in a fraction of a second. A custom Sports-Flex® guard acts as an insurance policy for your beautiful smile.

Gum Therapy

Healthy gums are the foundation of a healthy smile. Gum disease is one of the most common oral health conditions, yet it often develops without noticeable symptoms until significant damage has occurred. At Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo, we take a proactive approach to gum health by offering personalized periodontal therapy designed to stop disease early, restore healthy tissue, and help you maintain your smile for years to come.

Why is gum therapy important?

Gum disease begins when plaque and harmful bacteria accumulate beneath the gumline, causing inflammation and infection. Left untreated, it can lead to gum recession, bone loss, loose teeth, and eventually tooth loss. Research has also linked periodontal disease to several systemic health conditions, making healthy gums an important part of your overall wellness.

Our team carefully evaluates your gum health during routine examinations, measuring the health of the tissues surrounding your teeth and using advanced digital imaging when needed. Early diagnosis allows us to recommend the most conservative treatment possible while preventing more serious complications.

Personalized periodontal treatments

No two patients have the same oral health needs, which is why our hygiene department offers customized therapies that go beyond a routine dental cleaning. Depending on your condition, your treatment plan may include:

Arestin® Therapy
Arestin is a locally delivered antibiotic placed directly into infected gum pockets to reduce harmful bacteria and support healing in patients with periodontal disease.

Perio Protect®
These custom-made trays comfortably fit over your teeth and deliver a prescription antimicrobial gel deep beneath the gumline, helping reduce inflammation, bleeding, and harmful bacteria from the comfort of your home.

Fluoride Treatments
Professional fluoride applications strengthen enamel, reduce sensitivity, and help protect teeth that may be more vulnerable due to gum recession.

MI Paste®
This prescription-strength remineralizing treatment delivers calcium and phosphate to strengthen enamel, reduce sensitivity, and restore essential minerals to your teeth.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone therapy is one of the most advanced technologies available in modern dentistry. Ozone, delivered as either a gas or ozonated water, naturally eliminates harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses through oxidation while leaving healthy tissue unharmed. Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo is proud to be one of only a handful of dental offices in Texas certified to provide this innovative treatment.

By incorporating ozone therapy into many of our procedures, we are able to improve disinfection, promote healing, and provide an additional level of protection for our patients.

Why choose ozone therapy?

Ozone has a wide range of applications throughout dentistry and enhances many preventive and restorative procedures by reducing harmful bacteria where traditional methods may not reach.

Ozone therapy may be used to:

  • Reduce harmful bacteria deep within infected gum pockets.

  • Sterilize teeth before placing permanent fillings for a cleaner restoration.

  • Treat very small areas of tooth decay, potentially preventing the need for a filling in select cases.

  • Help reduce cavity-causing bacteria before decay develops.

  • Support long-term gum health through custom ozone tray therapy.

  • Enhance professional cleanings by using ozonated water in our ultrasonic hygiene instruments.

A holistic approach to dental care

Ozone therapy reflects our commitment to treating the source of dental problems—not simply the symptoms. As part of our comprehensive approach to oral health, this minimally invasive technology supports healthier gums, cleaner restorations, and improved long-term outcomes for our patients.

If you'd like to learn more about ozone therapy and whether it's right for you, our team would be happy to answer your questions.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a simple, preventive treatment designed to protect teeth from cavities before they develop. A thin, tooth-colored protective coating is applied to the deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, where food particles and bacteria most commonly collect. Once the material is hardened with a special curing light, it creates a durable barrier that helps prevent tooth decay.

When are sealants recommended?

Sealants are most commonly recommended for children as their permanent molars erupt, typically around ages six and twelve. Because the back teeth have naturally deep grooves that are difficult to clean thoroughly, they are especially susceptible to cavities during childhood and adolescence.

Applying sealants shortly after these teeth erupt provides years of additional protection while reducing the risk of future dental treatment.

How long do sealants last?

Sealants typically protect teeth for three to five years, although many last even longer with proper care. During routine dental examinations, we evaluate each sealant to ensure it remains intact and effective. If necessary, sealants can be easily repaired or replaced.

Patients can help extend the life of their sealants by avoiding habits such as chewing ice, popcorn kernels, or other extremely hard foods.

Protecting your child's teeth early can help establish a lifetime of healthy smiles. If your child is approaching the age when permanent molars are erupting, our team can determine whether dental sealants are the right preventive treatment.
