Serving Amarillo, Canyon, Dalhart and the surrounding Texas Panhandle
Want to protect yourself and your family against cavities and tooth decay? Then consider a fluoride treatment from the team of professionals at Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo. Dr. Trey H. Miller and Dr. Clinton L. Esler want you to know the importance of fluoride.
Fluoride and its benefits
Fluoride has been used in dentistry for decades as a preventive care treatment to minimize the risk of tooth decay. This natural mineral combines with calcium and minerals that occur in your natural saliva to limit the growth and spread of bacteria. It also hardens and remineralizes the small imperfections that occur naturally on the teeth of every individual.
Are fluoride treatments right for me?
Fluoride usually is recommended for children, to help protect their oral health as their teeth develop and erupt. That said, patients of any age could reap the positive benefits of a fluoride treatment to help maintain their oral health.
Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo also advises fluoride treatments for patients under the following conditions:
- If their water supply is non-fluoridated, distilled, or from a well
- If they are unable to see the dentist regularly
What can I expect from a fluoride treatment?
A fluoride treatment administered in our office takes only a few minutes. After the treatment, make sure to refrain from eating, drinking, or rinsing your mouth for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Fluoride treatments never should be considered as a substitute for regular oral hygiene. Make sure to maintain daily brushing and flossing, while also visiting your dentist once every six months for a professional cleaning and a thorough examination of your oral health.
