Serving Amarillo, Canyon, Dalhart and the surrounding Texas Panhandle
We’ve talked often about the dangers of missing teeth. If you’ve lost a tooth (or multiple teeth), it’s absolutely vital that you replace them as soon as possible if you’re to avoid the serious oral health problems associated with missing teeth.
For many people, this means dental implants. Dental implants provide a sturdy, long-lasting tooth replacement that will seem indistinguishable from your natural tooth.
But dental implants aren’t right for everyone. At Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo, we’ll ensure you’re a sound candidate for the procedure before moving forward. Your health and safety are our foremost concerns.
If you have questions about dental implants in the Amarillo, Texas area, please call Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo today at (806) 513-2544 for a consultation with Dr. Trey H. Miller and Dr. Clinton L. Esler.
Are Dental Implants Right For You?
The good news is that most patients looking to replace missing teeth are good candidates for the procedure. It’s relatively rare for someone to be rejected as a dental implant candidate.
Still, there are people who would be well advised not to undergo the dental implant procedure.
Here are the traits an ideal dental implant candidate possesses:
- You need to have sufficient bone density in your jaw to support implants. Because the implants are placed deep within your jaw, the integrity of your jaw is obviously paramount. Bone grafts are possible if you lack the required density, but that will lengthen your time investment.
- It’s important that you’re in good health, with no active infections. Gum health is particularly important. We cannot move forward with the procedure if you’re suffering from gum disease.
- You should have a fully matured, settled jaw
- You shouldn’t smoke. If you do, you should quit well before the procedure
Of course, the only way to know for sure if dental implants are right for you is to see our dentist in person. We will conduct a thorough examination of your jaw, teeth and gums and determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants.
We will not recommend any procedure unless we are sure it’s the right choice for you.
