Serving Amarillo, Canyon, Dalhart and the surrounding Texas Panhandle
Most people will get a cavity at some point in their lives, even if they are diligent about brushing and flossing. If you need a filling, the team of oral health professionals at Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo can repair your damaged tooth with a tooth-colored filling.
Also known as white fillings or composite fillings, we can match the color of these fillings to look indistinguishable from your other natural, healthy teeth.
Why choose a white filling?
A composite filling is made of glass or quartz filler, which then is contained in a resin medium.
Forget what you think you know about the metallic silver feelings that have been used in dentistry for decades. A composite filling is bonded directly to the tooth, and therefore less likely to break or cause any damage. Composite fillings also respond to the natural temperature changes that occur in the mouth every time you eat and drink; a metal filling does not, by contrast, which often can lead to the filling fracturing the tooth or falling out completely.
Lastly, having a composite filling preserves a greater quantity of your natural tooth structure, leaving you with a healthy smile for years to come.
What can you expect from a filling procedure?
First, you will likely need to be made numb before the procedure begins. Then, Dr. Trey H. Miller or Dr. Clinton L. Esler will remove any area of decay, as well as any tooth structure that has been damaged by the cavity. The tooth is cleaned thoroughly, a bonding agent is applied, and then the filling is installed into the tooth.
While each patient has different oral health needs, we often can complete a filling procedure during a single appointment.
Advanced Dentistry of Amarillo also can install a tooth-colored filling to replace older dental work that has become discolored or begun to cause other oral health concerns.
